Ruijin Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (hereinafter referred to as Ruijin Hospital), was founded in 1907 and was originally named Guangci Hospital. It is a large-scale tertiary general teaching hospital. It currently has three non-independent legal entity campuses: Huangpu Campus, Jiading Campus, and Yuanyang Campus. Ruijin Hospital is among the first batch of national pilot hospitals for high-quality development of public hospitals, pilot hospitals for modern hospital management systems, and a national base for emergency medical rescue. It has been selected as one of the first projects of the National Medical Center (Comprehensive Category). Ruijin Hainan Hospital has become a National Regional Medical Center. Ruijin has also been selected as a pilot project for the national Flagship Hospital for Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Collaboration. The hospital currently has over 50 clinical departments and centers, 4 national key disciplines, and 24 national key clinical specialties. It is home to a number of renowned medical experts both domestically and internationally, including Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Chen Zhu and Chen Guoqiang, and Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Wang Zhenyi, Chen Saijuan, and Ning Guang. Among them, Academician Wang Zhenyi was awarded the National Supreme Science and Technology Award in 2010 and the Medal of the Republic in 2024.
