Scavenging is an age old practice of the human era. In India scavenging is a caste based occupation carried out by dalit women. These communities are invariably placed at the bottom of caste hierarchy, as well as dalit sub-caste hierarchy. The researcher had analyzed the problem of scavenging in Tamil Nadu, India and searched the reason for its continuance in various pockets. It is an occupational activity of carrying out scavenging work, which is susceptible to harm and degrade the people involved. It was an attempt to analyze the physiological, psychological, sociological, economical, political, unhealthy practices of vulnerability and forced menial practices of scavenging women.
