Start at the alphabet. Finish with everyday Arabic.

Most Arabic courses ask you to choose between learning the script and learning the language. This one teaches both, in order, and never uses anything before it has taught it.

The first three chapters take you through the Arabic alphabet and the vowel marks, letter by letter, until you can read. The thirteen that follow build the language itself - nouns and gender, sentences and adjectives, questions and negation, possession, the present and past tenses, plurals - and then put all of it to work in the situations you actually need: family and home, shopping, a café or restaurant, getting around, appointments, basic health and directions.

The final chapter is an error clinic: the eight mistakes English speakers make most often in Arabic, each shown wrong and right side by side, with everything you need to fix it already covered in the book.

What makes this course different

  • The script comes first. Three full chapters on the alphabet and vowel marks before any grammar, so you are reading real Arabic from the start.
  • Every Arabic word is fully vowelled. The short vowel marks are printed on every word in the book, so you always know how it is pronounced.
  • Nothing appears before it is taught. Each chapter builds only on what came before it, and the boundaries are stated plainly rather than glossed over.
  • Exercises in every chapter, answered in full. A complete answer key at the back covers every exercise in the book.
  • No prior knowledge assumed. You need no Arabic and no grammatical background to begin.
