And animal-lovers are somewhat moved by the scene at the end of the book. Antiope running towards her convalescing master, people opening up around forming a sort of human corridor, the look of the little lady dog and the tears of the man seem like a deja vu to us. And Antiope becomes our dogs, the one who are next to us here and now, and the ones who are no longer with us, in a loving embrace that remains inside us.
