PUBLISHING SECRETS-REVEALED
Fully Updated and Revised Second Edition
This is a 'must read' for anyone who wants to get a book published. I'm the author of 50 books and pride myself on being a pro, but I learned a lot that I never knew before about what goes on behind the scenes at a publishing house. Also, Nappa's book is simply a fun read! I enjoyed it thoroughly.
-Lois Duncan
Author of I Know What You Did Last Summer and
Mystery Writers of America Grand Master
***You've done it!
You've written the next must have book and everyone you know who reads your manuscript agrees: It's guaranteed to be a bestseller. So why can't you find a publisher for it? For some reason (maybe even more than one) editors and agents alike keep rejecting your proposal.
What are you doing wrong?
Discover 77 of the most common reasons why thousands of book proposals are rejected every year, and find out what you can do to make your writing and proposal stand out from the rest. Working as an author, editor, and agent from more than 20 years, publishing industry veteran Mike Nappa knows the most frequent mistakes authors make in their book pitches-and the simple steps you can take to avoid catching a one-way ride on the train to Rejection-ville.
***There's a lot of straight dope in these pages. Mike Nappa cuts through a lot of how-to fluff to give writers some inside info on what makes editors say no and what makes them say yes.
-Chuck Sambuchino
Author of Get a Literary Agent,
editor of Writers Digest Books' Guide to Literary Agents, and
executive director of the national Writing Day Workshops
***This is a great, practical book for those seeking publication in today's market. 77 Reasons Why Your Book Was Rejected is jammed with good, workable ideas to help every potential author.
-Chip MacGregor
executive editor at Whitaker House Publishers, and
former VP/Publisher at Time Warner (Hachette Book Group USA)
***77 Reasons Why Your Book Was Rejected was originally published in 2011 by Sourcebooks, Naperville, IL. This fully updated and revised edition was published in 2026 by Walking Carnival Books, Colorado.
