This volume presents two essays by Richard Anthony Stafford on diseases of the spine. The first essay, On Angular Curvature of the Spine and Its Treatment, delves into the nature and management of angular spinal curvature. The second essay, On the Treatment of Lateral Curvature by Gravitation, Lateral Exercise &c, explores methods of addressing lateral curvature through gravitation and exercise.
These essays offer insights into 19th-century orthopedic practices and the understanding of spinal ailments during that era. They provide valuable context for those interested in the history of medicine and the evolution of treatments for spinal conditions.
