Yollop is a novel by George Barr McCutcheon that tells the story of a young man named John Yollop who inherits a large sum of money from his grandfather. With this newfound wealth, Yollop sets out to live a life of luxury and indulgence, buying expensive clothes and throwing lavish parties. However, his extravagant lifestyle soon leads him into debt and trouble with the law. Along the way, Yollop falls in love with a woman named Mary, but their relationship is threatened by his reckless behavior. As Yollop's fortunes decline, he must confront the consequences of his actions and learn to find happiness in more meaningful pursuits. McCutcheon's novel is a satirical commentary on the excesses of the wealthy and the dangers of living beyond one's means.Instead of obeying Cassius beckoned to him. Then followed a long, whispered conference between lawyer and client, at the end of which the former, visibly annoyed, declared that the defendant had decided not to testify. The Court indicated that it was optional with the prisoner and asked if the counsel desired to introduce any further testimony. Counsel for the defense announced that his client's decision had altered his plans and that he was forced to rest his case. The Assistant District Attorney stated that he had two witnesses to examine in rebuttal. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
