It all begins in a bar. Well, maybe it began when she ran away the night before her coronation. Or maybe when the Akari took over the continent and convinced her kingdom she's dead. However it started, former-Princess Corvinia has to finish it. Insulted and angry, Corvinia sets out to inspire her people to rise up against their oppressive new rulers by starting a secret Resistance army, with her as their reluctant Commander. Unsure and wary of the dangers they face, the ragtag army sets out to reclaim their homeland, making friends and enemies along the way. Her foremost adversary is the shockingly cunning Akari General Rinall, a man who proves to be more than one step ahead at every turn, easily thwarting Corvinia's plans on multiple occasions. With the help of long-time informant Tohrre, Corvinia learns of tragedies from all over the continent, and much closer to home. But when it becomes apparent that the man she had always trusted with her life is hiding some very pressing secrets, Corvinia begins to doubt where she can place her trust. What's Underneath is a story of an insecure young woman struggling to figure out what the right thing really is in a time when she can barely figure out who her allies are. Accompanied by childhood friends, a mercenary assassin, fallen military leaders, a troublesome mage, and one unexpectedly useful bartender, Corvinia pushes through her misgivings about being in charge and learns what being a leader truly means.
