Joe takes on parolees to help in the rehabilitation. Max, new to the boat and to fishing is overwhelmed that his parole officer placed him on a fishing boat. At first, he feels like a fish out of water, but gradually he warms up to the crew and all that goes with learning how to fish in the Pacific Ocean for salmon and crab when it is in season. In prison for Murder I since his teens, he now experiences for the first time a girlfriend, which is a huge learning experience for him. As he becomes more comfortable with what is expected of him as a fisherman and the way he interacts with the crew with some minor problems, he becomes more acclimated and satisfied with it all. Just when his new relationship and fishing skills seem established, a new threat emerges, which hinders not only his chance to stay onboard but now he may even go back to prison.
