People always ask that at first. Our society's entire ideal of marriage -or relationships at all- is so thoroughly built upon the theme of if he so much as glances at another woman he'll face the wrath of 'a woman scorned, ' that a woman who even countenances the idea of sharing her husband is branded as a 'pick-me' or a 'willing victim.' So, riddle me this: why are polygynous wives in plural marriages overseas looking at Western women with pity and sympathy, rather than envy?
The cold, hard fact is that in a world where viable, marriageable men are increasingly rare while women who want to be married are not, a world where two incomes are just not enough to pay the bills, more and more women are beginning to ask themselves -or maybe one another- wouldn't it be better to share?
