In the immutable and unending universe, Earth is not alone. Its parallel is the fantasy world of the Alion League, where science and technology meets with powerful magic to uphold the peace of both our world, and theirs. In the unremarkable, small English town of Carridge, Hannah Stone is a girl without a future. An orphan without friends, she has nowhere to go and no prospect of action and adventure filled life - at least, not until her biology teacher, Mr Stark, decides to act on her talent and reveal to her the fantasy and magic of the world beyond the world. When life in Carridge becomes unbearable, Hannah is transported to the headquarters of the Alion League, an institution dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge through science and technology as well as magical means. She is sent to learn Pharmacy, and placed under the direction of the mysterious Rene Reston, whose dark secrets soon threaten to plunge Earth and the fantasy world of Alion into a war like no other. As dark creatures encroach on Alion's fragile peace, a world of action and adventure, fantasy and magic will call the inhabitants of Alion to battle. Hannah's friendships will be tested, her loyalty questioned, and she will have to decide for herself just whose dark secrets she should believe. But in an interplanetary war like no other, with few people to trust and dark creatures closing in, is there really any hope at all? A thrilling new science fiction tale from a bright new author.
