This debut novel by author Ajala Bandele is full of action and humor, as it follows an unique ensemble of 4 characters through the seedy magical underground of contemporary Los Angeles. The unlikely, and wholly unprepared, team must uncover a mysterious plot by a flamboyant and hipster vampire, who seeks to regain his former glory and power, in order to keep their communities and themselves safe. The story focuses on finding a family, coming to grips with one's flaws, dealing with shattered beliefs, and stepping beyond one's comfort zone to uncover the truth.
Synopsis: Two fugitive warlocks, Shango and Jameson, survive an ambush by a ruthless Paladin, but now have to make a shady deal with an emotionally unstable dragon to hide the murder from the Covenant of Magi. Their choices are simple, if not dangerous: find her stolen treasure within three days or be eaten. Sucks to suck. The hunt for the dragon's treasure leads them to Joy and Tabitha - two ladies new to magic, both protecting their communities from supernatural threats. Together, they'll battle shadow monsters, goblins, and a vainglorious vampire's drugged-out monster gang to get back to the dragon in time. And if that isn't enough, someone mentioned something about a world ending prophecy, whatever that means.
