Someone shot the game warden. So Angela Atkinson took his job.

Officer Larry Grant had served as Hummings Hollow's game warden for only a year when he was found shot dead in the woods. The bullet was far too powerful for anything in season, the kind a hunter would use to bring down a bear.

Then Angela finds a bear dart hidden in the undergrowth. With black bear parts worth a fortune on the black market, she suspects someone has been poaching deep in the woods, and Larry got too close.

The clues grow stranger when Ruff discovers a trapped rabbit with a military style survival fishhook lodged in its throat. Someone is living off the land, avoiding town, and willing to hurt anything that gets in the way.

Angela needs to draw the killer out. So she plants a newspaper story announcing Hummings Hollow's new game warden, herself.

Now Angela is walking the same woods, following the same trail, and asking the same questions as the man who was murdered. Somewhere among the trees, a poacher with a bear rifle has read the paper too.

A lighthearted mystery that gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling while reading and draws upon the love of animals and mystery.--5 Stars, Reader's Favorite
