The Secrets of Maya Writing
The Maya invented one of the most advanced writing systems in the ancient world. Instead of letters, they used glyphs-symbols that stood for sounds, words, or whole ideas. To write jaguar, you might draw a jaguar head. To write a king's name, you'd combine several glyphs into a royal title.
