Something ancient, something new, something evil hunting you...

Mace swore it would be a cold day in hell before he took a protection gig for a witch. They still flinched away from him as he walked down the council hall. A thousand years did not erase his mistrust of the people that murdered his mate. Nor did it ease the fear they held for the bogeyman shapeshifter that slaughtered an entire coven in a single night.

Lora wants three things out of life: freedom from her controlling mother, a home of her own, and to survive organizing her cousin's mixed species wedding. With her uncle retiring from the Grand Council of Immortals, however, the event becomes more about politics and less about the happy couple by the hour. Someone has broken into Lora's home and drugged her at the bachelorette party. Is the stalker after council secrets or Lora? She needs protection, and her Uncle Bill will only hire the best.

Mace's father is on the Grand Council, his mother is attending the wedding. He agrees to a truce long enough to eliminate the threat to his family, but as he works the case, he realizes Lora is hiding something. Secrets that scare her into silence. Secrets someone is willing to kill to keep hidden.

This was a fun read; going through the book and trying to solve the mystery while still enjoying the magic world created by the author and the romance gave this book a different touch.--Sam Toka

I really like this book. Both main characters are likable, and it was nice that the alpha hero was tough but not an alphahole.--Melinda A. Simpson

If you love paranormal books with mystery style twist, you'll love this book. The author grabs you from the start and takes you into an adventurous journey. It's an easy read and one I couldn't put down until finished.--R.D. Hayes

I have read many, many, paranormal Syfy, books. They range from horribly written to exceptionally written! This is one of my top 10 favorites! I would consider this the innocent, sweet uplifting variation of Anita Blake books! Mary Gentrified!
