Mumbai is a strange city. They call it 'The City of Dreams', but you look around and you see a nightmare, millions of people trying to find meaning in their pathetic lives. You know that ex-girlfriend you can never move on from as much as you try? Or your favourite actress from childhood whom you see from a distance and think she's still as beautiful as ever, and then you see her up close and see Botox and cracks and wrinkles? That's Mumbai. In the hustle and bustle of the crowds and the traffic of Mumbai, a damaged movie star, a writer, a struggling actor and a Beatles fan struggle with alienation and loneliness as their romanticized dreams about life are shattered by the cruel reality of the city.
35mm In 1960's Bombay, A troubled young man goes on an unexpected journey to become one of the greatest actors of the country but ends up losing out on personal relationships due to his self-destructive personality and his inability to cope up with the superficiality of the Film world.
A DAY IN HIS LIFE A rock n roll fan wakes up in a world he had only seen in pictures, a world of music, drugs, and nostalgia.
FIXATION An apathetic, ambitionless writer meets a prostitute who makes him feel things he didn't think he was capable of feeling.
A DRINK WITH FATE A struggling actor, fed up of getting rejected at auditions, goes to his friend's house to have a drink and find a solution to his problems.
In his debut novel, Sagar Varma gives us 4 magical stories set in a fast-paced, lonely, yet strangely romantic world of films, beautiful women, loud music, and drugs.
