There Is No Plan B is a 402-page manifesto grounded in rigorous historical analysis,
economic theory, and documented evidence. The book argues that Black excellence is not
an anomaly or an exception-it is infrastructure. When communities invest systematically
in human development, maintain high standards, establish mentoring relationships, and

reliably, predictably, and measurably. East Orange, New Jersey, provides the primary case study. Over 50+ years, this city
produced 51+ documented professional athletes, an Olympic champion, international
entertainment figures, and a dynasty high school basketball program that compiled a
243-30 record across six seasons. These achievements were not accidental. They were
the output of deliberate infrastructure rooted in Washington Playground, coached by
men like Daryl Harris, Tommy Lynch, and Mike McNair, grounded in the community's
collective commitment to excellence as a standard rather than an aspiration. The book moves through three parts: First, it diagnoses the architecture of erasure-
the systematic suppression of Black achievement across American history. Second, it
describes the architecture of excellence-the specific mechanisms through which
communities build and sustain it. Third, it offers a blueprint for replication: the

deliberately destroyed in 1921, how Rosewood, Florida was burned in 1923, how Seneca
Village in Manhattan was seized for Central Park development. These were not random
acts. They were targeted destructions of thriving Black economic and social systems,
followed by systematic erasure from historical records. The architecture of erasure
operated through physical destruction, institutional suppression, narrative
manipulation, and psychological internalization. The result: generations of Black
children taught that excellence was exceptional, that their people's capacity was
