A brief introduction to the security industry for those considering work in the security field.

The COVID-19 pandemic hit society hard in 2020 and left many people unemployed. The protective services field became attractive since workers in security positions were labeled as essential employees. This drew a lot of people to get security licenses to maintain steady employment, but many of those same people realize this job was not safe and not for them.

So You Want to be a Security Guard discusses the realities of the security industry. Topics discussed include salary, contracts, job duties, training, finding a job, stress, and more. Before you take any steps toward signing up for a security class, you should read this book so you understand what lies ahead for you.

Mr. Figueroa shares some of his own experiences as a security officer to teach you what you can expect if you enter the field of protective services whether as an armed or unarmed security guard.
