When you are born without the pack, you're reliant on the Mistress. They call you Of Moonlight. That's me, born to a Lone Wolf and a Pariah -- an honorless wolf according to pack law. My father carries a nice set of silver glaive scars to remind him of his lack of honor. The sin he committed, you ask? He had the audacity to mate with my mother. My mother could have chosen to stay with the pack and turn her back on her renegade lover and the child born of defiance. But no. She loved my father and me, so she left, my mother following my father into banishment. We had the perfect life for fifteen years, then BAM! Life throws you curveballs, and so, here I am. Of Moonlight, living on the outskirts of a city pack's territory with my parents, in a small suburban bungalow. My only friend is a large, black Great Dane named Cab, who once belonged to the love of my life...until he was killed by a rogue werewolf serial killer. Oh, and I have a list.
The List is composed of twelve wolves who, like me, had been born without a pack. I owed them a favor and if I could not help them personally, I would help someone else in their stead. The first was Morgana Feralclaw. Feralclaw? Sounded more like a Cat than a Wolf, but who was I to judge. I will say though, that if all the names were as hard to repay as Morgana, I wanted them to count double. Let me tell you the story of the First Name and you will see what I mean.
