In the kingdom of Aerwyn, the sky has remained covered by motionless silver clouds for centuries after the mysterious Sleeping Sky was created by the dark ruler Veyron, Lord of the Endless Night. Seventeen-year-old Kael, fascinated by the forgotten legends of the Sky Guardians, discovers a hidden chamber beneath the Silent Mountain and awakens the Celestial Blade, an ancient sword once wielded by the Guardians. Through a vision of Arion, the last Sky Guardian, Kael learns that the sword chooses not the strongest warrior but someone willing to carry its burden, and he discovers that Veyron has awakened to reclaim the darkness. Returning to his village, Kael learns from his grandfather Eldan that the Sky Guardians once fought Veyron and sacrificed themselves to protect the world, but their victory was incomplete. As Kael begins to understand his role as the sword's chosen bearer, the Sleeping Sky starts to awaken, causing the villagers to witness blue light for the first time in generations. However, Veyron's shadow creatures soon descend upon the village, signaling the beginning of a new war between light and darkness and forcing Kael to embrace his destiny, uncover the truth about the lost Guardians, and find a way to restore the sky before Veyron plunges the entire world into eternal night.
