Es viernes por la tarde y tienes abierto un handler HTTP de cuatrocientas lÃneas. Hace seis meses tenÃa cuarenta. Dentro conviven ahora el parseo de la petición, la validación, el SQL, un aviso a Slack y las reglas de cálculo de tarifas. Para escribir un test hay que levantar PostgreSQL y Kafka; la suite tarda seis minutos. Alguien propone una refactorización, se abre un ticket de Jira y nadie lo asigna.
Los servicios en Go mueren casi siempre de lo mismo. Una consulta SQL dentro del handler ahorra diez minutos hoy. Una llamada HTTP directa desde el dominio evita crear otro archivo. Cada decisión es pequeña; el efecto acumulado es un servicio que nadie quiere tocar.
La arquitectura hexagonal - ports and adapters - resuelve esto sin añadir complejidad: impone una sola regla, las dependencias apuntan hacia adentro. Tu lógica de negocio nunca importa el driver de la base de datos. Tu dominio nunca parsea JSON. Tus reglas centrales no saben si las llama un handler HTTP, un servidor gRPC o un test. Esa única restricción, aplicada de forma consistente, mantiene la podredumbre fuera.
Pero no a la manera de Java. Casi todo el material sobre hexagonal viene del mundo Java: contenedores de inyección de dependencias, abstract factories, frameworks basados en anotaciones y diagramas llenos de cajas etiquetadas Application Service. Nada de eso encaja con Go. Este libro construye la arquitectura a partir de las fortalezas del lenguaje: las interfaces implÃcitas son los ports, las funciones constructoras son el composition root y el directorio internal/ impone las fronteras en tiempo de compilación. Sin frameworks. Sin contenedores de DI. Solo Go.

Con lo que te peleas es con la estructura: dónde va el código de la base de datos, cómo testear un handler sin levantar el mundo entero, por qué una funcionalidad pequeña acaba tocando quince archivos. Si esto te suena, el libro es para ti. Aquà no se enseña la sintaxis de Go.

La arquitectura es un medio, no un fin. El objetivo no es un hexágono perfecto: es un servicio que dentro de seis meses todavÃa puedas entender y cambiar sin miedo.
