In his monograph, Hungarian economist György Simon Jr. examines the historical experience of socialist construction in Soviet Russia and the USSR from both political and economic perspectives. In addition to the works of the classics of Marxism-Leninism, the study is based on the key tenets of neo-Keynesian, neoclassical, and endogenous growth theories, as well as on the concept of public security. From the demand side, the role of capital goods imports in the economic growth of the USSR is demonstrated for the first time. The econometric analysis of the development of the USSR's national economy was conducted primarily using an endogenous general growth model of the Kaldor type with a built-in mechanism for technical progress, which takes into account not only physical and human capital, but also time as the event space of creative economic activity, allowing for a comparison of total factor productivity with global standards. It was developed by Professor Sándor Györgyi Sr. (1930-2008) as part of a global economic study covering 131 countries, including the USSR. Particular attention is paid to the postwar Soviet-American economic competition.
