Taking place about thirty-five years after the conclusion of the Lightborn series, Legacy commences with the journey of H ldáris, son of the king, and two dear companions of his, Relmaríndë and Aeyósha, as they sail from their homeland of Telmérion with a company of men toward to shores of V líria. They intend to serve as mediators in a mission of peace and conciliation, and yet before they even reach land tragedy strikes, and a path entirely unexpected opens before them. From the ruins of their plans and the pain of loss can they gather the threads of their journey again and see it through to its conclusion?
Woven into this narrative is another, beginning in the years contemporary with Lightborn although on a faraway land, in V líria, and progressing into the present. This is the story of Albrýndaer and Ílya, children raised in the subterranean darkness, imprisoned by a society on the brink of rebellion, a rebellion which their own discoveries unintentionally unleash, and in the midst of which they struggle to remain together against the forces that would tear their communion apart.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
Unfolding in the years following the culmination of the Lightborn saga, Dawnbringer: Legacy explores the conjoined fates of the two peoples of Telmérion and V líria, sharing an ancient heritage severed a century earlier, and now woven together again by H ldáris, the son of the Telméric king, and his companions. And yet the success of his journey as a harbinger of peace depends upon forces beyond his control, inscribed in indelible unity with the story of a mysterious man and woman who were born in the deepest darkness of V líria's history, in the underground caverns of the earth, prisoners of oppression and injustice. In this narrative, H ldáris and those to whom he is bound enter into an unknown land and culture, gradually penetrating to its very heart, in the hope that the darkness that festers within it may be confronted and purged, and life anew, after centuries of violence and forgetfulness, may spark into flame. For even after the collapse of the Empire thirty-five years before, the promises of a new society have proved as changing as leaves on the wind, and only a deeper confrontation of the very foundation of the shared life and history of the V lírian people can mark a course toward a lasting future.
