When John Peachcroft approached me and asked me to host his 11th novel in a book under my name, I didn't think him a parasite or charlatan. I thought what a novel idea for a novel.

I also wasn't put off by his proposal when he confessed that I wasn't his first choice as host, or his second, or indeed his eighty-second thhh. I appreciated his honesty and his faith that a novel bearing my name instead of his had a better chance of success in the fiercely competitve self-publishing landscape.

Bravo, John! I say. Let's hope your innovative spirit pays off handsomely.

And it should, because this book contains a gut punch twist that I certainly didn't see coming. In fact, it's fair to say that Seller V is one of those books in which very little is as it seems. So if you like stories that challenge you to work out what's really going on while it's going on, this book has got it going on, to use contemporary street parlance.

Don't be put off by Peachcroft's seemingly flippant style. Yes, his novels have been phenomenally unsuccessful, but this guy can write. He knows how to construct a sentence and ensure there's only one space between the end of one and the beginning of another.

So what are you doing still reading my ramblings, dear reader? Get stuck in for murder, mayhem, intrigue, bathos, pathos and humour, not necessarily in that order, and in fact some of those things might not be in this book at all. It's THAT kind of work, if you know what I mean.

And please, dear reader, there's no need for you to thank me for taking a chance on a relative unknown. Cards on the table, yes, I will be taking a percentage of all sales, the level of which will be kept between myself and Mr Peachcroft whom, I can assure you, was perfectly content with the outcome of our negotiations before what happened happened, current legal issues notwithstanding. Whatever that means (my lawyer told me to put that there).
