When a newly discovered trench appears on classified sonar maps, marine geologist Dr. Mara Vale is called to Miami for a secret mission. The trench should not exist. Official charts show solid seafloor where the black scar now opens beneath the waves. Every probe sent into it has vanished, leaving behind only distorted images of pale human faces drifting in the dark.
Mara has spent her career exposing false sea legends and fake mysteries. But this mission is different. Six years ago, her brother Daniel disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle aboard a salvage vessel. The official report blamed a sudden storm. His final message said something far worse:
There's a city under us.
Now Mara joins the research submarine Asterion as it descends into the impossible trench. At first, the dive seems controlled. Then the depth markers stop making sense. The sub keeps sinking far beyond the mapped seafloor, pulled downward by a force that does not feel like current, gravity, or accident.
