Coal and Willa's powers awaken through battle, and they attempt to master their new strengths. However, Coal is very hesitant about training, knowing Samerci and her forces are on their tail. He is edgy, ready to flee at the first sign of trouble, while Willa craves a real life. A tense and tenuous romance grows, amidst battles and life on the run.
