The book of Ruth is small and quiet, and it sits right after the loudest book in the Old Testament. It is a story about a young woman who made a promise to an older woman who had nothing left to give her, and then kept it.

Ruth's Promise retells the book of Ruth for children ages 3 to 8, in short warm lines a preschooler can follow and a new reader can read alone. Naomi loses everything and tells her sons' wives to go back home. Ruth will not go. She walks to a strange country, works in a hot barley field to feed them both, and is treated with kindness by a man named Boaz.
