A reluctant hero emerges to battle an ancient evil.

Three thousand years ago, the demon Helsa escaped the underworld after a soul heist gone wrong. He soon disappeared.

Now he's back and hunting for the soul of a mage.

After Beringale's finest mage, Shedek Zorah, is kicked out of the Magic Guild, he finds a young Karle Adair unconscious and surrounded by armed orcs. Evidence suggests Karle used rare magic last seen a thousand years ago.

Thrust together by the soul-hunting Helsa, Shedek and Karle must set aside their differences to survive an endless stream of enemies seeking to end their lives and impose a new order upon mortals.

Karle's simple life of delivering drops and taking care of his drunk father is over. When a three-thousand-year-old demon is hunting for your soul and planning to destroy the world, it's time to quit your day job.
