Writing the latest chapters of my story has been a journey through some of the darkest corners of the Kingdom of Uluru.
One of the most challenging things to write was Mustapha's transition from a king who laughs off warnings to one who is physically abducted by the very monsters he doubted. It's a turning point that humbles him and forces the palace into a desperate defense. The revelation that Barbara and Haifa are twins separated at birth and raised in the brutal Igloo forest is the heart of the current arc. I've always been fascinated by the idea of destiny vs. upbringing. While Barbara was tested by mystical forces to protect the kingdom, Haifa was forged by bandits, making her fiercely independent and untrusting of anyone but her brother.
A lot of you asked why Haifa throws Barbara a bow during the battle with Zakat instead of a sword. In my mind, Zakat represents a distant threat a cloud of red magic that can't be touched by steel. The bow is a symbol of precision and the reach of their combined strength. It's the only way Barbara can strike back at a force that refuses to enter the palace directly.
As Zakat's red magical cloud looms closer, Barbara is struggling with more than just the enemy; he's dealing with the guilt of his past. The road to reclaiming the Kingdom of Igloo was paved with sorcery and sacrifice, and those memories are starting to catch up.
