At the end of each chapter, you will find tips for Dad that I learned along the way, creating a sense of community and shared experiences.
The second part of Rediscovering Fatherhood provides a practical roadmap for supporting your partner from Day 1 of her pregnancy through bringing your newborn home. I share essential tips for household chores, meal preparation, emotional support, navigating the delivery room, splitting the responsibilities evenly once you are home, and being a safe emotional outlet for your partner.
The third part of Rediscovering Fatherhood comprehensively examines how to prepare for your new baby. I will share tips for getting the baby's room ready, which items are critical to have in place before the baby is born, and how to begin bonding while your partner is still pregnant. I will also outline financial planning and wills, topics that may not be as exciting as expecting a new child but are still an important family planning responsibility. I will also share tips for bonding with the baby once they are born and baby-proofing your home as they become more mobile.
The fourth section of Rediscovering Fatherhood is dedicated to self-care for Dads. Your most important responsibility as a father is caring for Mom and Baby. But you must also take care of yourself because your well-being is crucial for being present and supportive of your family. This section emphasizes the importance of your self-care, making you feel valued.
Rediscovering Fatherhood is not only for new dads but also for new moms, as it offers suggestions for critical conversations that can be shared well before your baby is born. I share information about choosing a doctor and hospital, navigating unresponsive or inattentive doctors, and developing a birthing plan.
While being nervous and intimidated by fatherhood is natural, you do not have to navigate your journey alone. Rediscovering Fatherhood will be your handbook to being the best version of yourself for your partner, your baby, and yourself.
