Giây phút tử sinh đối với một bậc hà nh giả, không phải là điểm kết thúc mà là nơi tâm nguyện mở ra chiều sâu không còn đo đếm được. Trong khoảnh khắc thu thần thị tịch, Thầy không nói về sự chết, cũng không nói thêm về lẽ vô thường, bởi vô thường đã thấm biến qua từng hơi thở của cuộc đời Thầy như dòng chảy tự nhiên của trà tuệ và lòng từ. Thầy chỉ thâm trầm nhắc nhở Hư không hữu tận - Ngã nguyện vô cùng.* Lời ấy không phải để tiếc thương, mà để truyền trao. Không phải là câu thi kệ mà là di nguyện, cùng lúc là di chúc. Không phải nói cho riêng mình mà là mở ra con đường cho những đôi chân hậu học bước tới.
Hư không có thể tận cùng - là khi mọi giới hạn của thân, của thời gian, của lịch sử đều khép lại - nhưng chÃnh nơi ấy, tâm nguyện của bậc hà nh đạo khởi lên như một ngọn đèn không tắt giữa bóng tối nhân sinh. Bấy giờ Ngã nguyện vô cùng không riêng là lời thệ của một người, mà là tiếng vọng của cả một dòng tâm linh Việt Nam đang tìm một nền tảng văn hóa để đi và o tương lai nhưng không đánh mất chÃnh mình. Hà ng hậu học hôm nay nếu chỉ dừng lại ở sự cảm động, thì đã phụ nguyện rồi. Nên chỉ khi nà o chúng ta bước tới bằng trà tuệ, hà nh động bằng từ bi, giữ gìn khà tiết như xương cốt đạo lý, thì lúc ấy lời thệ của Thầy mới được tiếp nối. Vì nguyện ấy một khi phát khởi từ trái tim vô trụ, sẽ không còn mang danh xưng của riêng ai mà trở thà nh con đường chung của những người còn biết cúi đầu kÃnh ngưỡng trước một bậc Thầy.
Và cũng chÃnh nơi đây, trong niềm tưởng kÃnh không phải của người tiễn đưa, mà của người nhận lãnh, chúng con xin được lập thà nh tâm nguyện:
Dẫu hư không rồi sẽ đến ngà y tận cùng, chúng con nguyện không để tâm nguyện ấy vơi cạn. Dẫu thời cuộc biến thiên, chúng con nguyện không đánh mất niềm tin trà tuệ và lòng từ bi - khi song hà nh - có thể trở thà nh sức mạnh văn hóa dẫn dắt dân tộc. Dẫu một mai dòng sử mệnh nà y chỉ còn vang lên thầm lặng giữa đêm tối, chúng con vẫn xin nguyện giữ lấy ánh đèn mà Thầy đã trao, bước qua mọi giới hạn của khổ đau để tiếp tục hà nh trình tỉnh thức giữa nhân gian. Không phải để xưng tán một nhân cách đã đi xa, mà để khẳng định rằng Thầy vẫn đang hiện diện trong từng hơi thở của chúng con vì còn biết sống cho lý tưởng cao đẹp ấy.
Nam mô Bổn Sư ThÃch Ca Mâu Ni Phật thị chứng - không cho lời khấn cầu mà cho chà nguyện của hà ng hậu học đang đứng trước di sản của Thầy chúng con với lòng kÃnh trọng và quyết tâm sâu xa. Xin cho nguyện lực của Thầy trở thà nh hà nh động của chúng con. Xin cho cuộc đời Thầy không những được nhớ, mà được tiếp tục đi bằng chÃnh đôi chân của chúng con trên con đường vô cùng đó.
Nam mô Giác Linh Trưởng Lão Hòa Thượng ThÃch Tuệ Sỹ - xin nguyện lực của Thầy từ bi gia hộ và là m nơi soi sáng cho hậu học trên con đường tiếp tục hà nh đạo.
