  • The primary change is that parents no longer serve as role models for children in terms of submission and obedience. Adults tend to forget that they no longer act in the same manner as they once did. Remember when Mom meekly obeyed Dad's orders or at least gave the impression that she did because it was the socially acceptable thing to do? When everything was nice, nobody questioned the notion that Dad's decisions were definitive.
