For an America where convenience or a frivolous romp is valued more highly than life itself, where some states have codified the right to murder a child up until the moment of birth, James L. Fortuna's One Welcome Child offers a disturbing glimpse of where these trends could lead along with a wisp of hope for overcoming this demonic trend in one man's commitment to life and to his faith. Parker Sledge's story of love and marriage and childbirth is set in a dystopian Georgia where human life, especially that of the unborn, counts for little beyond what is commercially viable, where the unwanted are discarded like refuse. Along with a dedicated few, Parker works tirelessly against the local bureaucracy and popular sentiment to rescue the unwanted children and, along the way, meets the mother-to-be who makes One Welcome Child a love story indeed.
