Ten years ago, I wrote a book entitled, Fighting the Effects of Gravity: A Bittersweet Journey into Middle Life which outlined the foibles of midlife. The book discussed such topics as presbyopia (the need for bifocals), mid-life sex, and a butt falling and not being able to get up. But now, having reached the ripe old age of 70, I find that my issues have increased tenfold. Eyes that required bifocals have developed cataracts, tears, and displacements. Knees that that just harbored arthritis require replacement, and dentures have entered the picture. Believe me folks, middle age is a nuisance, but Old Age Sucks.
