We all want to experience more pleasure in life. Yet often enough, we're missing all the amusement, enjoyment, contentment, and even delight we could find in each moment. If we knew where to look for it. Usually, pleasure eludes us, because we think of it in a very few ways. Yet by investigating pleasure in all of its many forms, we'll be much better able to recognize it, and savor it deeply. Our pleasure in life depends on our positive orientations. Each is really a special kind of inclination to meet the present moment. In unique ways, we're called on to feel, think and act so as to enhance our pleasure with life. Examples include happiness, love, family, community, and joy. Becoming more familiar with our positive orientations will empower us to live a life more in harmony with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. Thus, we have a number of ways of experiencing pleasure, fifty in all. These are our positive orientations. We're born to enjoy living life, so we're motivated to appreciate ourselves, others, and the world in key ways that are, basically, very upbeat and productive. Think of happiness. Or pride. We all have an idea of what we mean by happiness and pride, because we're born to appreciate both. We also have a fair idea of what we mean when we are happy and proud. We're so pleased. And so, we can be pleased in fifty different ways, and combinations of them. Pleasure, and the good work that makes it all reliably possible, is what we're made for. Therefore, learning about our positive orientations is essential.
