This series and this book, in particular, is an excellent tale of woe and joy weaved into a historic era along with magical elements blended in-between. It is a story of a girl trying to be herself in an age where expectations of women are different, yet she excels as a strong female determined to achieve equality with her voice. I loved these books as they reminded me of the tale of Somewhere in Time with a twist. It was so entertaining.

A little legal thriller, a little fantasy, and a little romance, The Onyx Door has it all! I thoroughly enjoyed the final installment of the Luella Winthrop trilogy. The colorful cast of characters, the vivid setting, and the intriguing magic system hooked me and I couldn't stop reading until I knew how things would end up for everyone.
