Wow. Who can ever claim that being abandoned at birth and then ostracized by everyone who is supposed to be caring for you as you grow into adulthood is a good thing?I guess I can. My mom dropped me off at a fire station when I less than an hour old and some nurse at the hospital I was taken to decided to be cruel. She put Nameless Creature on my birth certificate, which made the people at the orphanage I was sent to treat me different from everyone else. I wasn't allowed to meet any prospective parents and kept in complete isolation once I hit 8 years old. All my schoolwork was done online once I was old enough to understand the internet. My living area was upgraded when I hit puberty giving me an apartment like area to study, exercise, eat, and sleep in. I wasn't allowed to go outside EVER! They did put in a sky light so I could at least see daylight and the sun. I had to make my own meals and a worker dropped my groceries off each week through a special door. I was stuck there until I hit 21 with no real human contact other than those I could see on my TV or computer. So, how can I say that all this was a good thing? It made me into who I needed to be to complete the tasks that life was about to shoot at me with both barrels loaded to the brim. I had no clue that people or other creatures, who I found out exist, could be so cruel. Once I got out of my first home, I discovered that regardless of who you are there will always be someone or something who will hate you just for the simple reason that you are there. But if you give yourself the chance to see beyond their hatred to find the pain they are hiding, sometimes you can heal them, which makes you both stronger for it. Now, I'm a mom and I can totally see why I was left in the place I was after birth. I understand the reasons and have been able to meet my mom, who loved me enough to give me up to keep me safe.
