A New Theory of the Earth is a book written by William Whiston in 1737. The book presents a comprehensive theory of the Earth's origins and ultimate fate, drawing on biblical and scientific sources. Whiston's theory posits that the Earth was originally a water-covered globe, created by God as a perfect and harmonious world. However, due to the fall of man and subsequent sin, the Earth became corrupted and began to undergo a series of catastrophic changes, including the Great Flood and the formation of mountains and valleys. Whiston's theory also includes a prediction of the Earth's ultimate fate, which he believes will be a fiery cataclysm that will destroy the planet and all life on it. This event, according to Whiston, will be the ultimate judgment of God, and will usher in a new era of spiritual purity and redemption. The book is notable for its blending of scientific and religious perspectives, and for its influence on later thinkers in both fields. It remains a fascinating and thought-provoking work, offering a unique perspective on the origins and destiny of our planet. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
