Ana is your typical antisocial small circle type of girl just trying to make it to high school. That is until her Gram breaks the news to her that she won't be around much longer. What Ana doesn't know is that she is under a spell. A spell that is going to break the moment her Gram passes.
See, Gram, as she preferred to be known, is a powerful witch in charge of a Grimoire that has been passed down their blood line. Connected to that spell book is a familiar by the name of Cayce, who is in the form of a black cat. Not that he approves. Gram's son Ana's father has passed, and Gram cannot share the truth with her mother. Ana is now sixteen and though she should be fully trained, she is completely unaware that she is a witch. Because of threat from other magical beings that desperately want the book, Gram had to disguise her powers and keep them hidden until such a time when she could claim her right to the book. That will only happen with Gram's passing, so she entrusts Cayce with her protection and training.
Ana is not in any way shape or form prepared when she meets her familiar Cayce, and he is not exactly pleased with her reluctance. She follows him in the dead of night unaware of where they are heading. He takes her straight to the family crypt where she discovers her spellbook. Her life is thrown into instant turmoil the moment she takes possession. She is forced to learn how to use her newfound powers all while trying to stay alive. Will she keep the book safe?
