MEERLY A. BAIR: ONE TEDDY BEAR'S ADVENTURES - at 164 pages and illustrated with charming pen and ink drawings - is a tale for the young and young-at-heart. Here is a world where toys live and animals talk. The good-hearted teddy bear, Meerly A. Bair and his young owner face fantasies and fears with touching and funny triumphs of love. In the fanciest department store in town, a lonely, rich, little girl, whose parents are always away on business, smiles at a stuffed bear, and he smiles back. They have many adventures - despite a rigid nanny and a crotchety butler - with a delightful assortment of creatures: an ambitious mouse; a timid earthworm; a forgetful elephant; a sweet toy rabbit; a troublemaking, most expensive doll in the world; and a marvelous mechanical dragon. The author and illustrator, GALE COOPER, is a Harvard educated, M.D. psychiatrist, who has written and illustrated other books on fantasy, animal anatomy, human interest, and Old West history. Other Books by the Author: One Unicorn; Unicorn Moon; Inside Animals; Introduction to Animal Anatomy; Anatomy of the Frog; Anatomy of the Guinea Pig; Joseph Naiman and his Family; Animal People; Joy of the Birds: A Novel; Billy and Paulita: A Novel; Billy the Kid's Writings, Words, and Wit; MegaHoax: The Strange Plot to Exhume Billy the Kid and Become President; Billy the Kid's Pretenders: Brushy Bill and John Miller; and Pardon for Billy the Kid: An Analysis.
