This book is all about the effect of competency based teaching methods used by mathematics teachers in teaching mathematics in secondary schools and its contribution to secondary school students in their mathematics performance especially in national examinations. The study was conducted in Njombe Town Council of selected public secondary schools. The participants was Head of schools, Mathematics teachers, and form three and four students. The study was employed pragmatic research paradigm in which mixed approach was used. Focus Group Discussion, interview, documentary review and questionnaires methods were used for data collection. The qualitative data and quantitative data were collected and analysed, thematic, and SPSS wewe used respectively. The findings of the study found that students mathematics performance were increased and students understanding of mathematics concepts were also increased with the evidence from students applications of mathematics concepts in real life situations were observed.
