Following the publication of John Rawls's *A Theory of Justice* in 1971, the Anglo-Saxon intellectual sphere became the focal point of a palpable surge in political and moral philosophy, attracting the attention of certain contemporary philosophers who, for their part, embraced a conception that fully embraced this new philosophy, the central question of which is how justice might be conceived. This issue paved the way for a renewed engagement with new horizons of debate between liberals and communitarians. Our work will shed new light on one of the fundamental strands of this recent conception of justice by analysing the thinking of a leading figure in the communitarian movement, MacIntyre, who initially criticised the liberal theories of justice founded by Rawls and Nozick; after which he proposed a new conception of justice in his two masterpieces, *After Virtue* and *Whose Justice? Which Rationality?*.
