Randy Wilhelm had at long last, gotten his job as a navigator, on a deep space transport. For three months he navigated the huge ship through space, from Earth's space station to Earth Two space station. Unload a few hundred settlers, and their supplies, and then a three month return trip. A few weeks off with a paycheck of two million dollars, and a woman to keep him happy at each station. What more could a thirty-year-old man want.
After a trip to Earth Two is plagued with problems, Randy is removed from his ship for an extended recovery. During this time he gets his first chance to set foot on the new planet. Instead of getting to see one of the new settlements, he is instead taken to a new discovery. A giant Pyramid, more than five times the size of those on Earth.
Asked to assist in translating an alien language from within the pyramid he jumps at the chance to see for himself. Slowly he starts to unlock some of the secrets of the aliens, but his superiors are not happy, believing he is holding back information from them.
From a local girl, Randy learns what people are willing to do for money and power. He is but one man, against a huge establishment already holding power and wealth, over others. He soon is forced to decide to either face the controling powers alone, or give up and vanish into the jungle of the planet, with the woman he befriends.
