describes it as an āyah - a sign of Allah - and as a solemn covenant, carrying meaning,
responsibility and purpose.

Li Taskunū Ilayhā explores what it means to build a marriage in which two people can
genuinely become a source of sukūn - tranquillity - for one another.
Drawing primarily from the Qur'an and Sunnah, alongside reflections on contemporary
family life, Abdiaziz Arab approaches marriage not simply as romance, companionship or the
formation of a household, but as a sacred responsibility through which affection, mercy,
character and spiritual growth are cultivated.
The book asks readers to look beyond the search for the right person and consider an
equally important question:
Am I becoming the right person?
It explores the realities that shape married life: choosing a spouse with sound judgement,
understanding compatibility, managing expectations, communication and conflict, emotional
maturity, finances, family and in-laws, forgiveness, appreciation, parenthood, purpose and
personal mission.
It also challenges some of the assumptions that surround marriage today. Feelings matter, but
should they always lead? Is being honest enough, or does marriage require transparency? Is
being nice the same as being kind? Can a healthy home survive without learning the art of
forgiveness and appreciation?
Rather than offering a formula for a perfect marriage, Li Taskunū Ilayhā invites the reader to
think more deeply about the kind of person, spouse and home they are trying to build.

mawaddah, raḥmah and sukūn - affection, mercy and tranquillity - how to share a life
