When EMTs consider expanding their scope of practice and licensure, there can be a lot of gatekeeping, hurdles, and generalized struggles involved. Considering that pre-canned curricula are not always the best option, I have added more information to help you along your journey. I have included an appropriate description of the WHY behind starting IV lines and giving certain drugs in this book. The linear approach to medicine that NREMT and certain card classes teach is not one that I have ever considered the best. I'm not saying I've done anything better than anyone else here; in all actuality, I probably did a few things far worse. I did, however, explain some things differently, which can be helpful. I have included if you're looking for a way to calculate drip rates that isn't scary. If you're looking for the practical application to certain drugs, that is also here. This is NOT a substitute or replacement for formal education or clinical guidelines. It may be incorrect if something doesn't look right to you here. Nothing written here replaces what your Medical Director tells you to do or how to do it.
