We all have an intuitive mind. Intuition is as much a part of human nature as observation and calculation. In spite of this, present day education ignores intuition in favour of logic. So we are taught to think logically at school, while intuitive thinking is regarded as something we are born with but can do nothing about.
We can improve our intuitive ability just as we can improve our ability for mathematics or music, by taking a direct interest in it and by regarding it as a skill.
We use intuition to make some of our most important decisions and judgements in life - should we trust someone or not? What kind of career do we want to pursue? What do we regard as most important in life, and what do we ultimately believe in? These are all questions that can only be answered intuitively.
The more familiar we are with our intuitive mind, the more clearly we will hear its voice when it speaks. The more clearly we hear it, the more confident we will be about using it when the important decisions come along.
The Intuition Test is not a book about the theory of intuition, but about its practical application. The book provides thirty problems for which there is no right or wrong answer, forcing the reader to make an intuitive judgement to solve them.
We can use logic to scrutinise a contract, spot the mistakes in an argument or write a coherent article, but when it comes to dealing with people, picking up on their moods, knowing when to speak or when to remain silent, or - most importantly - deciding what we are going to do with our life, we use intuition.
