Tibial slope is a risk factor for ACL rupture, and its influence has been the subject of several studies, but its role in graft isometry loss and iterative transplant ruptures remains a subject of controversy. The aim of our study is to evaluate, according to the criteria recognised by the International Knee Documentation Committee, the return to sport and the results of dynamic radiological examinations, the influence of the tibial slope on the results of ACL reconstruction. This study involved 54 patients from a continuous series (one centre and four surgeons) who underwent surgery for isolated ACL injuries between 2008 and 2011. The tibial slope was measured using the Dejour and Bonnin method, and the patients were divided into three groups. After studying the various parameters of preoperative knee laxity, it can be deduced that tibial slope has a direct and significant effect on knee rotational laxity but without any obvious functional repercussions. At the last follow-up (average 27 months), we found that excessive tibial slope is correlated with poor postoperative results.
