Congenital uterine anomalies (CUA) are abnormalities of the uterus resulting from a halt in the development of the biologically female embryo. The classification system of the ESHRE and the ESGE was used to define the characteristics of the individual CUA classes. It is known that the presence of a CUA impairs fertility and pregnancy. This book identifies which adverse pregnancy outcomes are more common in the individual CUA classes.A selection of key counselling points was made based on the six most common adverse pregnancy outcomes. These are preterm birth, cervical insufficiency, placental abruption, foetal malpresentation, (early) premature rupture of membranes and recurrent miscarriage. Using these reference points, key areas have been identified which midwives can address in a counselling situation.
