This book is for anyone who wants to balance their corrections with positive comments, reduce their children's misbehaviors and increase children's desire to listen to you. As your children's behavior improves, you will experience less stress and more peace and harmony in your home.
The book includes more than thirty true stories, and over twenty strategies. The stories describe how to use these techniques to resolve behavior and learning problems, many of which were long-standing and very trying. Only the names have been changed.
These tools can be used with children who understand basic language concepts-ages three or four and older. By using even one of these tools, such as The Art of Positive Noticing (See Part I) or Positive Contingencies (See Part 3), your children's defensiveness will lessen, and their listening and cooperation will increase.
The information in this book strengthens many kinds of relationships and helps to keep them intact. For that reason, although most of these stories are about children, there are two that describe how to use these positives strategies with employees and spouses. A behavior is a behavior wherever it occurs-and it benefits us all to know that similar misbehaviors can be handled similarly, no matter where they take place.
