It was Hugo who started it.
Not the Starpeople. They didn't want war, they wanted peace, and prosperity. Possibly a little bit of silliness or innovation, but really just all those good things reasonable people aim for.
But that was many years ago. Now, Starpeople rarely know who they are and where they came from - or even what they are. Some people might ask if that really matters. Come on, of course it matters! However, if you need more convincing, maybe the fact that the one who started it is looking to finish it might be enough. Hugo. He is trying to wipe out the entire race of Starpeople. Does he have a reason? Well, probably. It can't possibly be a good one though. At least, not a reason good enough to hunt down billions - possibly trillions - of people.
Kanodan doesn't know any of that. All he knows is the fact that a former Starperson who called himself J. Key left notes behind that not a lot of people can read.
Are they a warning? A hint? Maybe the information he didn't know he needed until he randomly stumbled across it?
He's not sure. What he does know, however, is that he wants to find the rest of them. And he's going to drag some old friends - and his Bonded, Samata - along to do it.
Not like he could get rid of her anyway.
